11 July 1965 Elza Farley, 47, of Wingate, a former resident of Stone Bluff, died instantly of internal injuries and a skull fracture at 4:55 a.m. Sunday on Ind. 55, 3.3 miles south and .2 miles east of Attica, when his body was run over by a semi-trailer truck driven by Carthiel L. Burge, 41, of Rt.3, Hoopeston, Ill. According to state trooper Donald Null, who investigated the accident, Farley was lying in the west-bound lane and Burge was headed west on the highway when he came over a hillcrest. He saw the victim and applied his brakes but slid on the pavement and struck Farley. Also investigating were Fountain county Deputy Sheriff Arthur E. Cruea Jr., and Fountain County Coroner Robert B. Shelby of Covington. The accident victim, according to Deputy Cruea had started to walk back to Rob Roy to get help after the car in which he as a passenger, crashed into a telephone pole. The car was driven by the deceased's sister-in-law, Mrs. Florence Farley, age 20, also of Wingate with them were Mrs. Farley's husband (rest is missing)
