COVINGTON - Robert Wesley "Gabby" Fairchild, 56, a carpenter who had lived here four years, was found dead in his home Tuesday evening. A Danville, Ill., man has been taken into custody in connection with investigation of the shooting death. Mr. Fairchild served with the Navy during World War II. He was born at Oakwood, Ill., on June 30, 1918, a son of Clayton and June Pinegar Fairchild. He lived at Oakwood until moving to Covington. Surviving are a son, Kenneth R. of Danville, Ill.; his mother, June of Danville, Ill.; five sisters, Mary Doran of Potomac, Ill., Margery Inman of Champaign, Ill., Anita Allen of Kelsyville, Calif., Carol Nelson and Stella Marvel of Danville; and six grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Lakeside Funeral Chapel at Danville, Ill., with Larry Music officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood, Ill. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. - jlr
