Mirtie Fairchild, 86, of Covington, died at 12:35 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2000 at the waters of Covington. Born November 28, 1913, north of Covington, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Addie (Beaver) Fairchild. Mirtie was a life resident of Covington and a member of First Assembly of God. She had been employed at Covington Manor as a nurse’s aid for several years, before retiring. Surviving, are: one sister, Melissa Luster of Veedersburg and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Visitation was prior to service on Wednesday at Shelby Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Kent officiating. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. – jlr

COVINGTON — Mirtie Fairchild, 86, Covington, died at 12:35 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 200 in The Waters of Covington (formerly Covington Manor). She was born Nov. 28, 1913 north of Covington, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Addie Beaver Fairchild. She never married. She was a life resident of Covington. She had been employed at Covington Manor as a nurses aid for several years before retiring. She was a member of the First Assembly of God. Survivors include: a sister, Melissa Luster, Veedersburg and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Pastor Paul Kent officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to service time (2 p.m.) today. – jlr
