Covington—Hiram Thomas “Tom” Coleman, 81, died at 12:35 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 1989 at Convalescent Care, Mattoon, Ill.
He was born Dec. 7, 1907 in Stringtown, the son of Charles A. and Emma Logan Coleman. He was married to Mary Bell Sloan Deevers, who preceded him in death Sept. 27, 1962.
He had been a resident of Stringtown in his early life and a former resident of Danville, Ill. and Alvin, Ill. He was a retired laborer from C&EI Railroad shops in Danville.
Surviving are three brothers, Charles M. “Ki,” Vandalia, Ill.; Forest Alex, Ridge Farm, Ill., and Josiah, Fairfield, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Kathleen) Edmonds, Route 3, Crawfordsville, and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers and two grandsons.
Friends may call one hour prior to funeral services at 10 a.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. Pastor David Frazeur will officiate and burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington. – thanks to S
