COVINGTON — Donald Everett Coleman, 84, Covington, died at 3:05 a.m. Monday, July 5, 1999 at his residence. He had been critically ill for several weeks. Born Oct. 27, 1914 in Wabash Township, he was the son of Frank and Anna (Cadman) Coleman. He was one of nine children. He attended Stringtown Grade School and was a 1934 graduate of Perrysville High School. For 15 years he was employed in Gary in the restaurant business and at the steel mills factory stores. Most of his years he was self employed. He had resided on Towpath Road just east of Perrysville since 1955. He was well known for his work as an artist, craftsman and antique collector. He collected folk art, did workcravings and oil paintings, and made furniture collected from old barns and homes. He had a special interest in his ancestry and local history. He was a member of West Liberty Church of Christ. Survivors include: sister, Grace Wilson; and a sister-in-law, Helen Coleman, both of Covington; and 20 nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by sister, Bessie (Charles) Anderson; and brothers, Claude (Jessie) Irvin (Mayme), James (Verna), Mont (Faunile), Frank and Robert (Ruth). Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday at West Liberty Church of Christ. Burial will be in West Liberty Church of Christ Cemetery. – jlr
