WILLIAMSPORT, Ind. - Kenneth L. Cole, 58, of Butler, Ind., a former teacher, principal and coach at Williamsport High, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Wilson Memorial Hospital in Marathon, Ontario, Canada, at 2 p.m. Sunday (July 23, 1978). He had just arrived at the White Lake Provincial Park Campgrounds and was ready to set up camp when he suffered a heart attack. Cole had resided in Williamsport from 1952-60. He was principal in Culver for several years before moving to Butler. Currently, he was superintendant of schools at the DeKalb County Eastern Community School District. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Butler, Masonic Lodge 38 F&AM of Williamsport, Rotary International, Butler Indiana Club and Phi Delta Kappa fraternity of Terre Haute. Cole graduated from Attica High in 1938 and from Ball State Teachers College in 1942. He also held degrees from Indiana State University and Purdue University. He was a Naval Officer in World War II. He was born in Parke County on July 12, 1920, the son of Claude and Abby Bartlett Cole. He was married in 1942 in Pendleton to Alice Marie Smith, who survives. Other survivors include a son. Dr. Stephen Cole of Butler; a daughter, Mrs. Sue Otterness of East Moline, Illinois; and three brothers, Manson Cole of Lafayette, Maurice "Pete" Cole of Chicago Heights, Ill., and Dorian Cole of Punta Gordo, Fla. Arrangements are incomplete at the Fisher Funeral Home in Williamsport. - jlr
