Fred W. Coffing, age 73, founder of the former Coffing Hoist Co., of Danville, Ill., and father of James R. (Jim) Coffing of Covington, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 26, at his home at 7701 S.W. 77th Pl., Miami, Fla. Mr. Coffing, a former resident of Perrysville and Danville, Ill., had resided in Florida since 1948. He often returned to the Perrysville and Danville areas for visits since that time. He was born on a farm located between Stone Bluff and Covington and later moved to the Perrysville community. The former Coffing Co. has been a part of the Duff-Norton Co., of Charleston, S.C., for the past four years. Surviving are his wife, the former Isabelle Buck; two sons, Jim of Covington and Sam, a student at Georgia Tech.; one daughter, Frieda Coffing of Coconut Grove, Fla.; two brothers, Homer of Clearwater, Fla., and J. D. Coffing of Covington; and two sisters, Mrs. Ora Brewer of Arizona and Mrs. Mary Lou Bonebrake of Veedersburg. Funeral services and burial were in Florida.
