Darlington - Ernest R. Coffing, 73, Darlington died at 9:04 a.m. Wednesday March 15, 2000 in VA Hospital, Indianapolis. Born Oct 23, 1926 Portland Arch, Fountain County, son of Gail & Marie Hickman Coffing. Married Agnes Myers April 9, 1944 who survives. Education in Sterling, portland Arch and Covington schools. Farmer. He owned Coffing Hardware & Coffing Storage & Mobile Home Park, Darlington. Member of United Christian Church. WWII Army vet and member of American Legion Post 302 in Darlington. Survivors besides the wife, include : a daughter, Rhoda (Richard) Ames, Darlington; a son, Ralph (Dee) Coffing, New Port Richey, Fla; a sister, Betty Corey, Longview Texas; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. March 18 in Hunt & Son Funeral Home, Crawfordsville with Revs. Michael Wren and James Rainard officiating. Burial with military rites were conducted by the Legion and VFW at Mt. Hope, Covington.
