Veedersburg - Lucas Coats 75, a native of Veedersburg and in recent years a resident of Frankfort, died at his home Tuesday the result of a heart attack. He had been in failing health the past year. Born April 28, 1890, near Veedersburg. He was a son of Joseph and Evalina Coats. His marriage was to Katherine Jackson and she survives along with a daughter, Mrs. Iris Mobler; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel McCord of Danville and Mrs. Ruby Snyder of Hartford City, and one brother, Max Coats of Danville. Prior to his retirement he had been employed by the Ingram-Richardson Co. of Frankfort. Mr. Coats' death occurred on the day he and his wife planned to celebrate their 48th wedding anniversary. Funeral services were held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Goodwin Funeral Home in Frankfort with burial in Green Lawn Cemetery. Coats, Lucas - Friends may call at Goodwin Funeral Home, Frankfort, after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Services there at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, the Rev. Armour Keller officiating; burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Frankfort. One grandson survives.

Frankfort - Lucas (Luke) Coats, 78, of Rt. 1, a retired employee of the Ingram-Richardson Co., died unexpectedly at 4 p.m. Monday at his home, one and a half miles east of Moran. Born in Veedersburg, he was married in 1917 to Katherine Jackson. His death occurred on the day they were planning to observe their 48th wedding anniversary. He came to Frankfort in 1922 and retired after 25 years from the Ingram-Richardson Co. in 1955. He was a member and trustee of Farmers Chapel Church. Surviving with the widow are a daughter, Mrs. Iris Mohler, Rt 7, Frankfort; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel McCord, Danville, Ill., and Mrs. Ruby Snyder, Hartford City, and a brother, Max, Danville, Ill.
