Veedersburg, Ind. - Conrad Dean Coats, 48, a life resident of Veedersburg, died at 11 p.m. Saturday (July 6, 1968) at Raccoon Lake near Rockville where he had been camping with his family. Death was attributed to natural causes. Born June 6, 1920, at Veedersburg, he was the son of William and Marie Death Coats. He was married April 6, 1946, to Imogene Stucker, who survives. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He also was a member of the Charles Forest American Legion Post 288. He had been employed at the Harrison Steel Casting Co. for 19 years and was a veteran of service in the Army during World War II. Other survivors include his mother of Veedersburg; a daughter, Miss Barbara Coats of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Brad and Matthew, both at home; and a sister, Mrs. Robert Mathes of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Veedersburg. The Rev. Fred Erickson will officiate. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery. There will be military graveside rites by the American Legion Post. The body is at the Fishero Funeral Home. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. today.
