Cates, Ind - James H. Clodfelder, 74, a resident of Cates for the past 10 years, died at 7:25 p.m. Monday July 19, 1971, at his home. He had been in failing health 10 years. Born Nov 15, 1896, in Fountain County, he was the son of Charles and Hattie Groves Clodfelder. He formerly had resided in Perrysville and Stringtown communities. He had been a coal miner for many years and later a carpenter. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Flora Cotton of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Lela Babb of Brownsburg; 3 brothers, Howard of Ft. Pierce, FL; George of Covington and Albert of Covington Rt 1; and 12 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Alfred Dobbs will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope. The body is at the funeral home. Friends will be received after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Clodfelder was a former resident of Perrysville and Stringtown. After being employed as a miner, he became a carpenter. He had lived in Cates the last 10 years. Born Nov, 15, 1896, he was a son of Charles and Hattie Groves Clodfelder.
