Attica – Dean Clinger, 79 of 1106 S. Brady St, died suddenly at 11:15 a.m. Friday while walking his dog on South McDonald Street. Efforts by Attica police and DeSutter Ambulance service to revive him were unsuccessful. He was born in Star City, lived in Frankfort 42 years and resided in Attica the past seven years. Mr. Clinger was married in 1915 in Lima, Ohio to Lela Hatfield who survives. He was a retired engineer for the former Nickel Plate Railroad and had a run from Frankfort to Lima 43 years. He served with US Marines four years, part of that time overseas and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers. Surviving with the widow are two sons, George Clinger of Indianapolis and Joe of Blue Island, Ill and a daughter, Helen Mitchell VanDame of Attica.
