CLINGER, Dean - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Attica – Dean Clinger, 79 of 1106 S. Brady St, died suddenly at 11:15 a.m. Friday while walking his dog on South McDonald Street.  Efforts by Attica police and DeSutter Ambulance service to revive him were unsuccessful.  He was born in Star City, lived in Frankfort 42 years and resided in Attica the past seven years.  Mr. Clinger was married in 1915 in Lima, Ohio to Lela Hatfield who survives.  He was a retired engineer for the former Nickel Plate Railroad and had a run from Frankfort to Lima 43 years.  He served with US Marines four years, part of that time overseas and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.  Surviving with the widow are two sons, George Clinger of Indianapolis and Joe of Blue Island, Ill and a daughter, Helen Mitchell VanDame of Attica.  

– CLINGER, Dean – Friends may call at DeSutter Funeral Home, Attica, 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Service in DeSutter Chapel at 2 p.. Monday the Rev. Harold Bachert officiating.  Interment Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Attica – Dean Clinger, 1106 S. Brady St, Attica suffered a fatal heart attack while walking his dog near his home at 11:15 a.m. Friday.  City police units were called and resuscitating equipment was used but he was pronounced dead at the scene at 1201 S. McDonald St.  Funeral arrangements are pending at DeSutter Funeral Home. – kbz

Attica – Dean Clinger, 79, 1106 S Brady Street Attica died suddenly and unexpectedly at 1202 S McDonald St, Attica 11:15 a.m. Friday. He was born in Star City Dec 22, 1890 the son of George Edward and Frankfort for 42 years and resided in Attica the past 7 years.  He was married March 1, 1915 at Lima, Ohio to Lois Hatfield, who survives.  He was an engineer with the Nickel Plate Railroad on the Frankfort-Lima line for 43 years before his retirement.  He served four years in the US Marines, three of them overseas.  He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.  Surviving with the wife are two sons, Indianapolis, Joseph, Blue Iland, Ill; one daughter Mrs. Clarence (Helen Mitchell) VanDame, Attica; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  One daughter preceded him in death. Friends will be received at DeSUtter Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Monday.  Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the DeSutter Chapel with Rev.
