Covington – Dennis Albert “Bert” Clingan, 73, 121 Elm Drive, Covington died at 10:23 p.m. Monday Sept 15, 1997 in the VA Medical Center, Danville, Ill. He was born May 7, 1924 in Kingman the son of Roy and Edna Shelton Clingan. He married Lottie Chrostowskin in 1947. She preceded in death in 1963. He latter married Jean Grimes in 1987; they were divorced but remained best friends. He was a life resident of Fountain County and graduate of Kingman HS and the Life Insurance Marketing Course at Purdue. He was a real estate and insurance representative for 40 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Kingman American Legion and VFW Post 2395 of Covington. Surviving are a daughter, Linda (Larry) Larkin, Brownsburg; a granddaughter, Leslie Larkin, Brownsburg; a grandson, Larry Larkin, Brownsburg; two brothers, Lee (Joann) Clingan, Covington; Fred (Freida) Clingan, Kingman and sister, Almeda (Verner) Samuels, Danville, Ill. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Alberta Holland and brother, Gordon Clingan. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Friday) in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington with Kenneth Majors officiating. Burial will be in Harveysburg Cemetery, Kingman with military graveside rites by the Kingman American Legion and VFW. – kbz
