Covington - Mrs. Ruth M. Clifton, 76, a former resident of Covington and Indianapolis died unexpectedly Monday in her home at Hollywood, Florida where she had lived the past 16 years. Mrs. Clifton was the widow of Cooper C. Clifton Sr. who was editor and publisher of the Covington Republican for many years and a former director of printing and director of the Indiana Gross Income Tax Division. Born March 2, 1896, she was a daughter of Albert and Sara Wilkey Furr. She was married Oct 14, 1916. Mr. Clifton died August 13, 1969. Surviving are a son, Cooper C. Jr. of Hollywood, Fla; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie shell and Mrs. Gladys Madden, both of Kingman; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here with Rev. Larry McMillan officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 pm. Thursday.
