Homer CLAWSON, a tailor of Danville who for some months past has been employed by Charles Glover a tailor in this city took his life last night. An open gas jet and a hose used to connect the gas with an iron used in the tailor shop firmly grasped in the hands of the dead man showed only too plainly the methods used. Clawson had come to Hoopeston yesterday from Danville where his family resides. He has worked in the Glover shop since last Aug until a few weeks ago when he returned to Danville taking some work with him. When he came to Hoopeston yesterday he stated that he and his wife had engaged in a quarrel and that she had ordered him out of the house. He worked during the day when night came asked Mr. Glover if he would allow him to sleep in the tailor shop that night. The request was granted and he was allowed to remain. This morning when the shop was entered it was believed he was still asleep on the bench in the shop an overcoat being thrown over him. Upon lifting the coat it was learned he had been dead for some time. He had evidently lain down on the bench, covered himself with the overcoat and to make death certain had disconnected the hose from one of the irons and placed one end under the coat. Homer was the adopted son of Martin Clawson of Covington who was born and brought up in Richland Twp. Homer worked at his trade in Attica 12 or 15 years and was considered a fine workerman but addicted to occasional indulgences in liquor.
