Attica – Arthur H. Clawson, Jr. 74, 130 David Drive, Attica, died in Regency Place, Lafayette at 11  p.m. Friday July 3, 1998. He had been in failing health since March 2. Born in Attica June 19, 1924 he was the son of Arthur H. and Lorena Wilson Clawson, Sr. He married Ariel Ann McMurtrie April 28, 1946 in Attica. She preceded him in death July 21, 1991. He was a lifelong resident of Attica. He graduated from Attica HS in 1942. He was formerly employed as a foreman in the machine shop of Radio Material Corp in Attica for 40 years. He presently was working as a machinist Tru-Plex in West Lebanon for the past 10 years. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy. He was stationed on the USS Saunter and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Attica where he served on several of the church boards and was a trustee of the church. He was on the Board of Global ministries. He had served in the mission fields visiting the Congo and Zaire in Africa. He was presently serving on the Fountain-Warren County Habitat for Humanity Board.  He was a life member of the VFW Post 3318 of Attica. Survivors include father, Arthur H. Clawson, Sr, Attica, daughters Sarah (Dennis) Schuch, Noblesville; Susie (James Scecina, Florest, a; Martha (Matt) Coats, Veedersburg, Mary (Thomas) Schott, Attica; Jennifer (Ike) Means, Richmond; brother, Charles Dale Clawson, Attica; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  He was also preceded in death by his mother. Private family services will be at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday) at Maus Funeral Home, Attia. There will be no public visitation. Burial with military gravesite services for will be at Riverside Cemetery, Attica. A memorial services for the family and general public will be at 6 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) at Attica First United Methodist Church with Revs. Jeff Newton and Don Williams officiating.  Memorial contributions can be made to the United Methodist Church Mission Fund. - kbz

 He worked as a foreman in the machine shop of Radio Material Corp in Attica for 40 years.  He then worked for 10 years as a machinist at TruFex in West Lebanon.  Born June 19, 1924 in Attica, he was a life resident of Attica, graduating from Attica High School in 1942.  He married Ariel Ann McMurtrie on April 28, 1946 in Attica and she preceded him in death on July 21, 1991. Mr. Clawson served in the Navy during WWII. He was stationed on the USS Saunter and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.  He was an active member of First United Methodist Church, serving on several boards and as a trustee.  He was also on the Board of Global Ministries.  He had served in mission fields in Congo and Zaire and on the Fountain-Warren County Habitat for Humanity Board.  He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 3318. Surviving are five daughter, Mrs. Denis (Sarah) Schuch of Noblesville, Ind; Mrs. James (Susie) Scecina of Forest, Va; Mrs. Matt (Martha) Coats of Veedersburg; Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Schott of Attica and Mrs. Ike (Jennifer) Means of Richmond, Ind; one brother, Charles Dale Clawson of Attica; his father, Arthur H. Clawson Sr of Attica and a companion, Jo Pugh of Attica.

CLAWSON, Arthur H – There will be no public visitation.
 Private family services will be at Maus Funeral Home, Attica at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial with military graveside services will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. A memorial service will be held for the family and general public at the Attica First United Methodist Church at 6 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Jeff Newton officiating and Don Williams officiating.
