William “Bill” Clarkston, 87, Kingman and a resident at Ben Hur Home in Crawfordsville since November 2007, died 8:37 a.m. Monday at St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville. Mr. Clarkston was a retired farmer. He also formerly worked at the Newport Ammunition Plant and Harrison Steel. He was born May 14, 1920, in Clay County, Ky., to Elihu and Mary Frances Bull Clarkston. He married Edna J. Burke July 1, 1942, in Fowler. She died Oct. 3, 1996. Survivors include children Patricia (Terry) Tibbett, Covington, Mattie (Larry) Fouty, Indianapolis, William Earl (Vickie) Clarkston, Wellington, Ill., Betty (Ricky) Rahm, Covington, James W. (Lori) Clarkston and Roger (Frances) Clarkston, both of Kingman; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. He is preceded in death by two sons, two sisters, and four brothers. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Thursday at DeVerter Funeral Home, Cayuga, with the Pastor Sam Guilliams officiating. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Newport. Friends may call 1 p.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, C/O Mrs. J.
