Howard M. Clarkson, 85, a retired farmer of Rt. 8, died at 6:20 p.m. Thursday at Home Hospital. He had been ill since June 1 and had been hospitalized two weeks. He was a lifetime resident of Tippecanoe County, farming in the Odell and South Raub communities until his retirement in 1954. He was a member of Stidham Methodist Church, Romney F&AM 441, Romney OES Chapter 460 and Farm Bureau. He first was married to Bessie Martin, who died in 1958. In 1960 he married Mary Florence Martin, who survives. Besides the widow, he is survived by a son, Wayne, of Rt. 7, and two sisters, Mrs. Ara Pendleton, Nowata, Okla., and Mrs. Will Hamilton, Pawhuska, Okla.
