Newtown, Ind. - Don W. Clarke, 83, of Newtown, died unexpectedly at 1 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 7, 1972) at his home. Death was due to natural causes. Born Jan. 18, 1889, near Paxton, Ill., he was the son of S. B. and Ella Hall Clarke. He was married Feb. 28, 1921, at Crawfordsville to Dot Work, who survives. He attended Paxton schools and was a member of Richland Masonic Lodge 205 at Newtown. A retired farmer, he had resided near Newtown for 50 years. Other survivors include a brother, S.W. Clarke of Hemet, Calif. He was preceded in death by a sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Saturday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with the Rev. George Phelps officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday. - -
Newtown - Don W. Clarke, 83, a retired farmer, died Thursday morning in his home here. He had farmed in the Newtown area for the past 50 years with the exception of seven years when he lived at Darlington. Mr. Clarke was a member of Richland Chapter 205, F&AM, and attended Paxton, Ill., schools. He was born Jan. 18, 1889, at Paxton, Ill., a son of S.B. and Ella Hall Clarke. On Feb. 28, 1921, he was married at Crawfordsville to Dot Work, who survives. Also surviving is a brother, S.W. Clarke of Hemet, Calif. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Crumley-Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro, with Rev. George Phelps officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday.
