CLAPP. Dorothy May Baxter - 1961 - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

HILLSBORO - Mrs. Dorothy May Clapp, 54, a resident of this community the past eight years, died late Friday in the Soldiers Home Hospital near Lafayette.

  Her parents came to this community from France, and she was born on the boat during the voyage, her mother dying then.  She lived in Crawfordsville about 30 years before coming to Hillsboro as a housekeeper for Larry Lowe.  Her husband preceded her in death.

  Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Sunday at the Crumley Funeral Home with Rev. John Servies officiating.  Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery at Wallace.  Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday evening.

HILLSBORO- Funeral services for Dorthy Mae Clapp, she died Friday in the Soldiers Home near Lafayette, were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Crumley Funeral Home here.  Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery at Wallace.

  Mrs. Clapp, who would have been 55 Saturday, was ill the past year of a heart ailment.

  Born in Cerro, Gordo, Ill., March 4, 1906, she was a daughter of Charles and Edith Baxter.  Her husband, Lyman Clapp, died about nine years ago.

  Survivors include a sister, Pearl Melton, of Paris, Ill., another sister in Tennessee, and two half brothers, Ben Farris of Arcolla Ill., and Charles Farris of Oakland, Ill.

  Mrs. Clapp had lived in Hillsboro since moving here from Crawfordsville about eight years ago.
