Attica – Floyd W. Christenberry, 73, of 419 E. Maple St, died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday Jan 18 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville, Ill. He had been in ill health since September. Mr. Christenberry retired from Western and Southern Life Insurance Co. in 1986. He had been an agent and retired as district manager. He formerly worked for Meadow Gold Dairy in Attica. Born in Robinson, Ill Aug 19, 1924 he grew up in Pine Village and graduated from Pine Village High School in 1942. He had lived in Attica since 1945. He married June Ford Oct 31, 1942 in Attica. A veteran of the Army he served in Central Europe during WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was discharged in October 1945. Mr. Christenberry was a charter member of the Founders Club and the VIP Club both of Western and Southern Life Insurance Co. He also was a member of Attica Eagles Lodge 2596, where he was past president, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3318 Attica, Moose Lodge, the American Legion, Wabash Masonic Lodge 708 and member and past president of the Lions Club. Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Sandy) Pearl of Bloomington, Ill and Mrs. Brenda Brasker of West Lebanon; and a brother, Charles M. Christenberry of Lake Havasu, Arizona.

Floyd W. Christenberry - “Funeral Notices” – Friends may call at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, 4-8 p.m. Thursday with Eagles memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday in Maus Chapel, the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Interment Riverside Cemetery, Attica with military graveside service by VFW Post 3318. Five grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren survive. His parents preceded him in death.
