COVINGTON – Funeral services for Clifford M. Chew, age 73, a resident of Sheridan, and brother of Dr. R. D. Chew of Covington, who died Wednesday, Feb. 24 (1971), in the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hinshaw Funeral Home in Sheridan. Burial was in Crown View Cemetery at Sheridan. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Chew opened his first grocery in Russiaville in 1918. He once operated a chain of Regal groceries in Central Indiana. He retired in 1961. He also was a former director of the Union Bank & Trust Company at Kokomo and a member of the Columbia Club, the First Christian Church of Sheridan and the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Delia Chew; one son, Charles Chew of Sheridan; one daughter, Mrs. R. N. Swope of Kokomo; and two brothers, Charles Chew of Sheridan, and Dr. Roy D. Chew of Covington. – jlr
