Thomas D. Chenoweth, the subject of this sketch, was born in Chillicothe, Ohio, in 1832 where he spent his early boyhood days with his six brothers and five sisters. In his early manhood he, in company with Thomas Daugherty moved from Ohio to Indiana, and settled in the then scarcely peopled neighborhood near what is now known as Otterbein, not having lived at any great distance from that place at any time since. On March the 4th 1864 he was united in marrige to Miss Susanna Brier who preceeded him to the better world Jan. 15, 1905 having been a good helpmate and with whom he lived happily. To this union was born one child, Letitia Mary at whose home “Uncle Tom” passed away August the 5, 1909 being nearly 77 years old. While Mr. Chenoweth never claimed any church affilliations yet in his last days of intense suffering he told his may friends that all was well with him. Funeral services were conducted from the residence of J. G. Gorden, north of town, Friday at 4 p.m. by Rev. O. T. Martin. The remains were taken to Attica Saturday where interment was made beside his wife. – jlr
