John Frank Cheak, 86, a retired railroadman, died Monday, Jan. 17, 1977, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been a patient two weeks. Born near Oxford, he moved to Attica in 1934 where he was employed by C.A.&S. Railroad until he retired in 1945. After retirement he operated the Cheak Radio Repair Shop at Attica until 10 years ago. Mr. Cheak lived in Hammond from 1973 until 1975 when he moved to Edgewood View Nursing Home at Oxford. In 1912 he was married to Lucy Carter. She is also a resident of Edgewood View. He was a member of the Moose Lodge at Attica. Also surviving are a daughter, Bernice Cheak of Hammond; one son, Francis Cheak, of Oxnard, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Gretencord, of rural Fowler. Rev. Fred Gschwind officiated at the funeral services at the Yuill-Shoemaker Funeral Home in Boswell. Burial in Boswell Cemetery. - waw

John Frank Cheak, 86, a former resident of Attica, died at 9:40 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 1977, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. He had been seriously ill two weeks and had been a patient at the Edgewood View Nursing Home the past year.
  Services were at the Yuill-Shoemaker Funeral Home in Boswell. The Rev. Fred Gschwind officiated and burial was in Boswell Cemetery. -a
