LINDEN -- Ira W. Chase, 74, died at 11 p.m. Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Russell Ratcliff, Rt. 2, Veedersburg. Mr. Chase, who had lived in Linden since 1924, had been ill for four years. Born on October 12, 1888 in Tippecanoe County, he was the son of Frank W. and Louisa Bowers Chase. He was married to the former Blanche Winkler on Jan. 5, 1916 near Otterbein. He had been a star route mail carrier for 32 years before his retirement and was a member of the Linden Methodist church and of the Linden Masonic Lodge, 697. Surviving, besides his wife and daughter, are five sisters, Mrs. Maude Sherman, Muskegon, Mich., Mrs. Olga Sheets, Lafayette, Mrs. Willard Culver, Reynolds, Mrs. Clarence Malaska, Mulberry, and Mrs. May Jones, West Point; five brothers, Len Chase, Lafayette, Ray, of Rossville, Verne and Lloyd, both of Lafayette and Clifford Chase, West Point, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Helms Funeral Home, with Rev. Willis Syphers of Linden and Rev. Don Cutts, of Mellott conducting services. Friends my call at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pond Grove Cemetery at Otterbein.

Veedersburg - Funeral services for Ira W. Chase, age 74, who died at 11 p.m. Friday, July 12, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Russell Ratcliff of Veedersburg Rt. 2, were held Monday afternoon at the Helms Funeral Home in Linden. The Rev.
