Bloomingdale - Walter E. Chapman, 84, a retired farmer in this area, died at 10 p.m. Saturday at his residence. He was a birthright member of Friends Church here. He was born in Parke County on March 21, 1890, a son of Jeremiah and Henrietta Evans Chapman. He was married June 11, 1917, to Esther Williams. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Claiborne and Clifford, both of Bloomingdale; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Newnum of Tangier, six grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Butler Funeral Home at Rockville with the Rev. Shirley Brown officiating. Burial will be in Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
