CATES, Opha Allen - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Cates, Ind. Mrs. Opha Cates, 96, of Cates, died at 12:25 a.m. Sunday Nov 28 1976, at the Covington Manor Nursing Home. She had been a patient six years. Born May 6 1880 at Cates, she was the daughter of Thomas and Melissa Jane Newnum Allen. She was married on Sept 7 1901 to Francis Hardy Cates, who died Oct 28 1969. She had resided in Cates all of her life, except from 1912 to 1934 when she resided in Danville, Ill. She was a member of the Yeddo Baptist church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Doug (Gladys) Six of Covington Route 1; a son, Ernest of Covington Route 3; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, two sons, two brothers and two sisters. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Tuesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, with the Rev. Alfred dobbs officiating. Burial will be in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home where the family receive friends from 2-5 p.m.
