Keith H. Cates, 64, of Kingman RR 2, a former Fountain County Commissioner and Councilman, died on Monday, June 9th, 1975, at Lake View Memorial Hospital. He had been a patient nine days. A life resident of Fountain Co. he was a graduate of Kingman High School and had farmed all his life. He was a former board member and chairman of the Fountain County Conservation District, and was a former member of the advisory board of Millcreek Township. He was a dealer for the Moew Seed Corn and the Royster Fertilizer Co. for many years. He was a member of the Cates United Methodist Church; the Kingman Masonic Lodge 314 F & AM; Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis; Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute; Farm Bureau; and Wallace Low 12 Club. He was active in the Democratic Party and served as a precinct committeeman. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Phillip (Carolyn) White of West Lebanon; a son, Dale of Kingman R 2; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister an a daughter. Services at the Centennial Community Church, with Rev. John Lamb and Rev. Luther Page officiating. Burial in Mt. Hope cemetery, Bodine & Shelby in chage - jh

Kingman- Keith H. Cates, 64 of Rt 2, Kingman, a former Fountain County commissioner and councilman died Monday in the Lakeview Hospital in Danville, Ill, where he had been a patient nine days. Born and reared in Fountain County, Mr. Cates, a farmer, was a lifelong resident of the Kingman community. His marriage in 1933 was to Irene Meade and she survives. He was a former member of the Fountain County Soil & Water Conservation District Board, a former member of the Mill Creek Township advisory board and a dealer for Moews Seed Corn and the Royster Fertilizer Co. Mr. Cates was a member of the Cates United Methodist Church, Kingman Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute, Farm Bureau and Wallace Low Twelve Club. He was active in the Democrat party and served as a precinct committeeman. Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Philip (Carolyn) White of West Lebanon and a son, Dale of Rt 2, Kingman. = kbz

Cates, Keith H – Friends may call after 7:30 p.m. this evening and after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. Masonic service there at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Service at 2 p.m. Thursday in Centennial Community Church with Revs. John Lamp and Luther Page officiating and interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. Also surviving are six grandchildren.

Keith H. Cates, former Fountain County Commissioner and County Councilman, of Rt. 2, Kingman, died 9:35 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville, Ill., where he had been a patient nine days. He was 64.
  He was born Jan. 11, 1911 in Fulton Township, Fountain County, son of Millard and Dessa B. Summers Cates. He married Irene Meade on Jan. 31, 1933 and she survives.
  Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Phillip (Carolyn) White, West Lebanon; a son, Dale Cates, Rt. 2, Kingman, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one daughter.
  A life resident of Fountain County, he graduated from Kingman High School and was a farmer all his life.
  He was former board member and chairman of the Fountain County Soil conservation District, former member of the Advisory Board of Millcreek Township, was a dealer for a seed corn company and a fertilizer company for many years. He was a member of the Cates United Methodist Church, member of Kingman Lodge No. 314 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute, member of the Farm Bureau and the Wallace Low-12 Club. He also served as precinct committeeman and was active in the Democrat party.
  His funeral will be 2 p.m., Thursday, June 12, at Centennial community Church near Kingman, with Rev. John Lamb and Rev. Luther Page officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
  Friends may call after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. Masonic services will be held 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. --s
