Henry “Bud” Cates, 74 father of William Thomas Cates of Lafayette died at 10:35 p.m. Sunday at Crane Healthcare Center, Loogootee following a lengthy illness. Mr. Cates was a retired coal miner. Born Oct 6 1911 in Walker Co GA he lives at Rt 1, Montgomery, Ind. His marriage was to Gracie Reece Oct 19, 1935. She survives. Mrs. Cates was a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church in LeJunio, KY. Surviving with the widow and son, William Thomas Cates of Lafayette are another son, Ernest Cates of Daytona Beach Fla and a daughter, Mrs. Candis Graber of Montgomery.
