COVINGTON – Funeral services for James A. Carwile, Sr., age 66, of 515 Jefferson St., who died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home here. Mr. Carwile, who had been hospitalized one week, was born Jan. 28, 1903, in Covington, the son of Herschel and Evalena Newburn Carwile. He was married Dec. 24, 1930, to Ruth Shuff, who survives. He was a life resident of Covington and was a farmer in his early life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Covington and Local 579 UAW. He was employed at General Motors Corp. in Tilton, Ill., for 11 years, retiring in 1963. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: two sons, Robert of Potomac, Ill., and James Jr. of Catlin, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Fran) Bumpus of Covington; one sister, Mrs. Frances Walters of Mattoon, Ill.; and nine grandchildren. – jlr
