(1961) Mrs. S. Clyde (Florence Etta) Carter, age 74, 621 Sixth St., died suddenly and unexpectedly at 6:07 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., where she was a patient about three hours. She became ill in the night and death was attributed to a heart condition. Mrs. Carter was born Oct. 4, 1886 in Missouri, the daughter of John and Etta Fossett. Following the death of her mother, she was reared by the Allen Yerkes family south of Covington. Most of her life, however, was spent in Chicago, Ill. She came to Covington to live following her marriage to Mr. Carter on June 26, 1960. She was a member of the West Liberty Church of Christ. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are: one daughter by a previous marriage, Mrs. Juanita Jensen of Chicago; one grandson, Earl Rodrian; two great-grandchildren; four step-children, Mrs. Frank Coleman of Kingman Rt. 2, Mrs. Robert Coleman of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Ora Mae Brown of Lafayette and James Carter of Covington; 16 step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Leslie Parker, pastor of the West Liberty Church of Christ, officiated and burial was in the West Liberty Cemetery.
