Crawfordsville relatives were informed Thursday morning of the death in West Lafayette at 6 o'clock Wednesday evening of Mrs. Etta Wilson Carter, native of Montgomery County, who was born in the Roundhill neighborhood. Mrs. Carter was the daughter of William W. and Sophia Wilson, pioneer residents of that community. The late James D. Wilson was a brother. They were of a family of 11 children. Born Sept 4, 1869, Mrs. Carter was 81 years of age at the time of her death. She was the widow of Charles Carter, of Wingate, who died a third of a century ago. For many years Mrs. Carter resided in the Shawnee Mound neighborhood, northeast of Wingate. As a girl she attended Danville Normal College. She was a member of the Methodist Church in West Lafayette where she had resided many years. Survivors include two daughters and a son - Mrs. Avenella Max Davis and Mrs. Mrs. Ruth Carter Bundy both of West Lafayette and Leslie Carter of Odell. Mrs. Margaret Tribby of Crawfordsville, is a sister-in-law and Mrs. Ethel Chadwick, Mrs. H. Grady Chadwich and Mrs. Zelia Snyder also of Crawfordsville are nieces. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in the Hippensteel Funeral Home in West Lafayette, with burial in Shawnee Mound Cemetery. - kbz

Mrs. Etta A(lice) Carter, 81, of 509 Evergreen street, West Lafayette, died at St. Elizabeth hospital Wednesday at 6 p.m., following an extensive illness.
Born near Crawfordsville, she moved to West Lafayette 29 years ago from Wingate. She was a member of the West Lafayette First Methodist church and Eastern Star at Wingate. In 1892 she married Charles W. Carter, who died in 1917.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William A. Davisson, and Mrs. Ruth Bundy, both of West Lafayette, and a son, Leslie, of near Attica. (thanks to Adina) - jkz
