ATTICA – Funeral services for Earl F. (Nick) Carter, age 68, of Watseka, Ill., brother of Mrs. Lucy Cheak of Attica, who died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Segur Funeral Home in Watseka. The Rev. Robert A. Mogge officiated and burial was in Iroquois Memorial Park. Mr. Carter was born April 3, 1899 at Chase, Ind., the son of William and Laura E. Carter. He was married June 22, 1925 in Lafayette to Lucille M. Coleburn, who survives. He had been employed at the Hoopeston, Ill., Telephone Co., from 1960 to 1966 and prior to that was employed at AT&T at Longline Station, Watseka. He was active in civic affairs and served two terms as alderman of the first ward. Memberships included Watseka Lodge 446, AF&AM, Scottish Rite of Danville, Ill., American Legion Post 23 of Watseka, and the Buddy Egnew Post 4826 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Hoopeston. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one son, Delmar G. of Watseka; one brother, Ralph of Lafayette; three sisters, Mrs. Cheak of Attica, Mrs. Mary Stovall of Lafayette, and Mrs. Elsie German of Boswell, and three grandchildren. – jlr
