"Amos H. Carr, 84, Kentland, died June 27, 1996 in Magnolia Wood Health Care, Watseka, Ill. He was born April 2, 1912 at Cates, Fountain County. He married Rosalie E. Hueston in 1941. She survives.
He has resided in Kentland since 1960. He also lived in Indianapolis for five years and in Covington for several years. He worked for the New York Central Railroad for 38 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kentland and the Newton County Chapter of Gideons. He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church and a Sunday School superintendent for several years. He was a devoted husband, dedicated father and grandfather, and a loving brother. His life revolved around his family, nature, and the Lord. He and his wife, Rosalie, were happiest when hiking the trails at Turkey Run State Park.
Surviving, besides his wife, are: three daughters, Dona Ruth Babcock, Wrightwood, Calif., Joanne Wagner, Batesville, and Cynthia Lynn Nagele, Sheldon, Ill.; a brother, Bob Carr, Bloomingdale; three sisters, Flo Wilson, Covington, Vivina Mullen, Veedersburg, and Susie Lindquist, Veedersburg; and four grandchildren, David, Nicholas, Amber and Ashley. He was preceded in death by five brothers and a grandson, Thomas J. Wagner.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Kentland, with the Rev. Hansford Smith and Rev. William Hall officiating. Burial was in Fairlawn Cemetery. McMullan-Stitz Funeral Home, Kentland, was in charge of arrangements."
