CARPENTER, Wilbur

Wilbur Carpenter, Rt. 1, Covington, died 8 a.m. Sunday, April 27, at his residence. He had been in ill health four years.
He was born Jan. 28, 1906, in Ripley County, the son of Squire and Mary Murphy Carpenter. He was married Dec. 24, 1930, in Brownstown to Eva Mae Cox, who survives.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Charlotte) Isom, Veedersburg; one son, Alva Carpenter, Rt. 1, Covington; one sister, Mrs. Eldon (Ollie) Hofpelhorn, Normal, Ill.; six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sisters, one brother and two grandchildren.
Mr. Carpenter had been a resident of Rt. 1 Covington for 20 years and formerly lived at Watseka and Houston, Ill. He had been a farmer all his life, retiring in 1971, due to ill health. He was a former school bus driver in Wabash Township for eight years. He was a member of the Stringtown Church of God.
Funeral will be Tuesday, April 29, 2 p.m. at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Herman Smith officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday. – thanks so much to S
