Funeral services for Richard Lloyd Carlson, age 16, who died Tuesday night, Aug. 2, at the Cook County Hospital, Chicago, Ill., were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the DeSutter Funeral Home in Attica. The Rev. R. D. Snell and the Rev. Ronny DeLong officiated. Burial was in the Salem Cemetery. He was the son of Russell and Cleo Catherine Lewis Carlson, and was born November 27, 1949 at Lafayette. He spent his entire life at his present home. He would have been a senior at Attica High School in the fall and was a member of the FFA in the school. Surviving with his parents are his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hansel Carlson, Attica Route; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Thomas Lewis of Montmorenci; two brothers, Russell Eugene and Roger Dean at home; two sisters, Cathy Carlson at home, and Mrs. Carol Sue Bracken of Attica. Friends may call at the DeSutter Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Carlson was a passenger in a 1949 Plymouth driven by Stephen Fletcher, who also died as a result of the fiery crash, Thursday, July 28. Carlson and Keith Haynes, another passenger were taken to the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill. They were transferred early Saturday morning to the Cook County Hospital where Carlson remained in "critical" condition for four days. He suffered burns over 70 percent of his body.
