LAFAYETTE — Cleo Katherine (Lewis) Carlson, 75, 303 Stock Bridge Lane, Lafayette, died at 4:55 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2000 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. She had been hospitalized for the past 10 days. She was born May 19, 1924 in Oxford, the daughter of Thomas and Susie Reister Lewis. She married Russell Kenneth Carlson Sept. 7, 1944 in Sterling, who survives. She graduated from Jackson Township High School. She had lived in Davis Township, Fountain County and Jackson Township, Tippecanoe County for many years. She later lived for 10 years in St. Cloud, Fla., and had moved to Lafayette in 1992. During World War II she worked as a telephone operator for the Lafayette Telephone Company. Later she helped her husband with farming. She was a member of the Bethel Community Church and was involved with the Bethel Ladies Aide. She had also attended the Jackson Heights United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing and reading. Survivors, besides the husband, include: two daughters, Carol (Tom) Bracken, Lafayette, Cathy (Richard) Swank, West Point; two sons, Russell Carlson, New Paris, Roger Carlson, Lafayette; a sister, Elnora DeVault, Romney; 13 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard, three brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with Pastor Jerry Miller officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, east of Attica. Friends (may call at the funeral home from noon until service time today. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. – jlr
