Robert L. Campbell of RR 4, Veedersburg, age 68, died unexpectedly of a heart attack early Saturday, July 25, in Williamsport Community Hospital. He was born in Fountain County, January 8, 1913, the son of Andrew and Flo Smith Campbell. June 15, 1935, he married Alice Dearing, who died in June of 1954. August 12, 1955, he married Gladys Cates, who survives.
Campbell and his wife Gladys owned and operated the Sycamore Bowling Lanes in Covington and adjoining lounge for about six years. A member of Osborn Prairie Church, he was a graduate of Veedersburg High School and had farmed for many years. He was a member of the board of directors of the Hub Savings and Loan in Veedersburg. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Seymour of Newtown; a son, Daniel Louis Campbell of Veedersburg; four step children, Mrs. Carol Cushman of West Palm Beach, Florida; Glen Craig of Lexington Park, Maryland, Richard Craig of Alexandria and Marion Craig of Veedersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Bunnell of Wingate, Mrs. Inez Luzader of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Calvin Cumbow of Veedersburg; a brother, Ray Campbell of Veedersburg; and aunt, Georgia Campbell of Veedersburg; two grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren, and one step great grandchild. The body was taken from Parham Funeral Home in Veedersburg to Osborn Prairie Church for funeral services Monday afternoon. Burial was in Osborn Prairie Cemetery. – thanks to S
