Mrs. WA Campbell, pioneer resident of the Paxton community, whose critical illness has been mentioned in the columns of the Daily Record on numerous occasions during the past month passed away Friday a.m. at 1:45 o’clock. Her death was due to diabetes and infirmities of her age. Elizabeth Catherine Campbell was born Dec 31, 1850, at Hillsboro, Fountain County Indiana. She moved to Ford County in March 1852 with her parents who located on a farm six miles southeast of Paxton. On April 23, 1868, she was united in marriage to William Alpheur Campbell, the son of Obidiah and Margaret Campbell. To this union were four children. Following the death of Mr. Campbell in 1894, Mrs. Campbell has resided with her children, who have tenderly cared for her. The children are Mrs. Herman Snelling, Miss Pearl Campbell, Mr. Pam Campbell and Mr. Lowell Campbell, all of Paxton. Mrs. Campbell and her family resided in the country northeast of Paxton for a number of years. Later they purchased property on West State Street and where they have since made their home. As a member of the Christian Church of Paxton, Mrs. Campbell who professed her faith early in life, was very active for many years in the work that has been carried on by this denomination in this community. She was a good woman, kind and loving mother and a considerate neighbor who enjoyed the respect, love and esteem of all who knew her. At the time of her death, Mrs. Campbell was aged 83 years, 10 months 27 days. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home with Rev. WA Hixon, pastor of the Christian Church officiating. The family has asked the Daily Record to inform the friends to kindly omit flowers. – kbz
