Attica—Joseph Ambrose Butz, 81, 506 N. Third St., Attica, died at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 1989, in Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica. He had been a patient there the past four years.
He was born Aug. 5, 1907, in Williamsport, the son of Mathias A. and Margaret VanDame Butz. He was never married. He attended Williamsport schools and lived in Warren County for a time and had lived in Attica most of his life. He was a self-employed truck driver.
  He was an Army veteran of World War II and had served with the Attica National Guard. During World War II, he served in Sicily, Italy and France. He was wounded in action in Italy and received a Purple Heart.
  Surviving is a sister, Mrs. James (Bonnie) Carnahan, Attica. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
  Friends may call from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Pastor Edward Bennett will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Attica, with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3318 of Attica. – thanks to S
