BURNS, Alta May Ramey - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Alta May Burns, 71, died at 2:45 p.m. Friday at the Ingram Nursing Home in Covington where she had been a patient since Aug. 15. Born Sept. 15, 1887, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of James Franklin and Ora Ann Howerton Ramey. She married William I. Holloway April 23, 1910. He preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1944. She married Thomas J. Burns June 27, 1948. He died March 28, 1956. Mrs. Burns was a member of the Cates EUB Church and a resident of the Cates community for the past 11 years. Surviving are a son, Pierce Holloway of Oxford; two brothers, Charles Ramey of Covington and Reed Ramey of Brookston, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Dale Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
