Veedersburg—Robert I. Burgner Sr., 75, 408 W. Ninth St., Veedersburg, died at 7:39 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 1989 at United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville, Ill.

  He was born Sept. 17, 1913 in Veedersburg, the son of John William and Maude Boggs Burgner. He was married June 30, 1934 in Sullivan to Charlotte Schwin, who survives.

  He was a life resident of Veedersburg. He graduated from Veedersburg High School and attended Purdue University. He was a machinist at the Newport Powder Plant during World War II and was owner of Burgner’s Garage in Veedersburg since 1945.

  He was a former member of the town board for eight years

and has served as a trustee for several years of Rockfield Cemetery.

  He was a member of the Veedersburg United Methodist Church; Kappa Sigma; Veedersburg Lodge #491 F.&A.M.; Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis; a life member of Murat Shrine; and a charter member of the Veedersburg Lions Club.

  Surviving besides his wife are a son, Robert I. Jr. (Donna), Route 2, Veedersburg; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Barbara) Snelling, Route 4, Veedersburg, a sister, Mrs. Dorothy (Dode) Songer, Route 2, Veedersburg; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.  

  Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Parham-Shelby Funeral Home, Veedersburg; with Masonic services at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Veedersburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lance Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. – thanks to S
