COVINGTON — J. Lester Burghart, 87, of Rt. 1, Covington, died at 6:15 a.m. today in the Veterans Administration Hospital at Danville, Ill., where he had been a patient for two months. Mr. Burghart had lived and farmed in the Foster area of Warren County for most of his life. He had resided at Kansas City, Mo., for seven years and then moved to his Covington address three years ago. He was a member of Benson Chapel Church where he was superintendent and Sunday School teacher for 30 years. Born March 4, 1888, at Sidelle, Ill., he was a son of Henry and Margaret Ethalinda Meeks Burghart. He was married to Datie Littleton on Sept. 19, 1918. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Lynn of Kansas City, Mo., and James of Lebanon; a step daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Veatrice) Davis of Kansas City; a sister, Mrs. Lona Parsons of San Antonio, Tex.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, brother and sister are deceased. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Benson Chapel Church with the Rev. Earl Rustio officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The body will lie in state in the Church one hour prior to services. Friends may call at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Friday. --waw
