Source: Lafayette Journal Monday Dec 10, 1917 p 4

The death of Mrs. Deborah Burch one of Lafayette’s pioneers occurred Saturday morning at 10:30 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hannah C. Brier on 32nd Street.  Mrs. Burch was born in Virginia 96 years ago and the infirmities of her great age cause her death.  She came to Indiana with her parents in 1848 and moved to Lafayette from Fountain County two years ago.  Her husband, Thomas J. Burch died 25 years ago.  Mrs. Burch long claimed the Attica Methodist Church as her place of worship the teaching there was reflected in her personal life.  She was widely known in Tippecanoe and Fountain Counties.  Two daughters, Mrs. Hannah C. Brier at whose home she died and Mrs. E. Ullrich and one son, Benjamin Burch of Arkansas survive the aged woman.  The body of the deceased was taken to Attica to the old home on East Washington street from where the funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment will be made in the Attica cemetery.   - kbz
