Charles Edward Buckley, 86, 413 E. Pike St., Attica, died in Community Hospital, Williamsport, on Monday, Jan. 8, 1996 at 1:30 a.m. He was born in Rosedale on June 4, 1909, the son of William and Anna Mary (Miller) Buckley. He had lived most of his life in Attica and was a graduate of Attica High School in 1928. Mr. Buckley farmed for several years. He later drove a tobacco and candy route in a four county area, and was later employed at Harrison Steel Castings Co. in Attica, before becoming the proprietor of Buckley's News-Stand and later expanding to Buckley's True Value Store. He and his wife, Cleva, operated the store in downtown Attica for nearly 30 years. Following retirement he had operated a lawnmower repair service out of his garage. A former Rotarian, Mr. Buckley, also enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was married to Cleva Irene Crow on Oct. 20, 1935 in Attica. She preceded him in death on June 13, 1983. Surviving, are: one son, Billy Lee Buckley, Attica; two grandchildren, Scott Alan Buckley and Andrea Lynn Burris, both of Attica; two step-grandsons, Don and Scott Banta; a step-great-granddaughter, Ashton Banta. He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold. There was no visitation. Service was held Wednesday at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with Rev. Charles Kline and the Honorable Mayor Harold Long officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospital. – jlr
