The dead body of Charles Bruner, well known man of this city was found in his bed Sunday morning by Mrs. Agnes Jones of Jennison Street, Mr. Bruner's landlady. A physician, called immediately expressed the opinion that the man had died early in the night. Heart trouble, following acute indigestion was the cause of death, according to Coroner Lidikay's verdict after an examination. Mr. Bruner had been a resident of Crawfordsville for a year and a half, coming here to take employment with William Coombs, as carpenter on the new Baptist Church. He had formerly lived in Hillsboro. He was not known to have been suffering from heart trouble and his death is a shock to his friends. Saturday evening he was down town and apparently was in good health. Mrs. Jones discovered the body when she called Mr. Bruner for breakfast, about 7 Sunday morning. Receiving no response at her first call, she waited until 8, then called again and finally entered the room. Three brothers, Samuel and William of Wallace and Joe of Waynetown and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Daily and Mrs. Ida Connel of Hillsboro and Mrs. Ollie Fine of Waynetown survive. Mr. Bruner was single.
The deceased was a member of the K of P Lodge, the Odd Fellows and the carpenters' union. He was highly respected by a large number of friends in Hillsboro. He was 56 at his death. The body was taken to the home of Mrs. Daly, the sister at Hillsboro this morning and the funeral will occur Tuesday afternoon at two at the Christian Church with burial in the Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown. - kbz
