BROWN, Parke T.

Parke T. Brown of RR 1, Tangier, age 89, died Sunday afternoon, April 12, at his home. He was born in Parke County, February 19, 1892, the son of David and Hannah Hadley Brown. In May of 1921, he married Mary Sollars, who survives.
  Brown attended Bloomingdale Academy and Indiana State Normal and graduated from Purdue University in 1921. He taught in a one room school for four years before returning to Purdue, where he served as an agricultural staff member for 23 years. He retired in 1949 and worked as a county agent for seven years. He was a member of Tangier Friends Church and was an Army veteran of World War I.

  Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Kistler of Winamac and Mrs. Mary Woods of RR 1, Bloomingdale; two sons, Parke Jr. of Kingman and Bruce of Tangier; three sisters, Mrs. Lois Marshall of Westport, Mrs. Hilda Williams of St. Johns, Michigan, and Mrs. Kathleen Scott of Washington Court House, Ohio; two brothers, Edwin of Rosedale and Keith of Bloomingdale, 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

  The body was taken from Woodrow Funeral Home in Kingman to the Tangier Friends Church for services Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Ruth Isaacs and Rev. Jerry Canady officiating. Burial was in Tangier Cemetery.
