Mrs. Joy Brown, a well known Veedersburg community resident died Saturday night at her home on Rt 2 after being ill for the past six years. Mrs. Brown was born at Oxford, In Sept 4, 1900 daughter of the Rev. Oliver P. and Lina A. Cook Cooper. She attended Veedersburg schools and graduated from Indiana State Teachers College in Terre Haute. She taught in local schools and in Monticello several years and for three years was engaged in welfare work in Fountain County. On June 10, 1933 she was married to Max W. Brown and he survives. Only other survivors is a brother, Perry Cooper of Lebanon, Ind. She was a member of the Mu Zeta and El Truso-Sororities and the Veedersburg Evangelical United Brethren Church. Funerals services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Fishero Funeral Home with Rev. Samuel Pritchard and Rev. John Flockhart officiating. Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery. – kbz
