BROWN, John Riffle - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mellott, Sept 29 – John Riffle Brown, 76, well known farmer died of a heart attack last night at 10 o’clock at the Brown homestead a mile east of Mellott.  He had been ill for 11 weeks with rheumatic fever.  Son of John and Martha Messmore Brown he married Fannie Simpson Aug 15, 1896.  She survives with one son, Floyd.  Mr. Brown was a member of the Congregational Christian Church and was active in civic and church affairs.  Body taken from Crumley and Son Funeral Home at Covington to the family residence Saturday afternoon.  Funeral at Congregational Christian Church 10 a.m. Monday.  Burial Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro    ---transcribed by kbz
