Hiram Milton Brown, 72, died suddenly while teaching his Sunday School class in the Kingman Methodist Church when stricken with a heart attack. He was born on Oct 18, 1878, the son of Francis H. and Mary Jane Frazier Brown. He was born on Oct 18, 1878, the son of Francis H. and Mary Jane Frazier Brown in Parke County and had lived in Bloomingdale until shortly after his marriage on June 19, 1907 to Miss Lucy Towell who on March 16 last. The couple moved to Kingman where he had been associated with the Metzger Lumber Company and the feed mill until his retirement. Surviving is one son, Merrill of Shelby, Miss. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday conducted by Rev. Hovis of Terre Haute. Burial took place in the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery with the Spencer Funeral Home in charge.

Hiram Milton Brown, elder son of Francis H and Mary Jane Frazier Brown was born on a farm near Catlin, Indiana, Oct 18, 1878 and departed this life April 29, 1951. His early years were spent on the farm and attended school in Catlin. Later the family moved to Bloomingdale and he graduated from the Bloomingdale Academy. In 1907 he came to Kingman as manager of the Kingman Grain and Milling Company and has lived here since that time. On June 19, 1907 he was united in marriage with Lulu Ellen Towell. To this union was born one son, Merrill Edward of Shelby, Mississippi. Of his immediate family only the son survives. His wife, his father and mother and his only brother, Leonidas of Bloomingdale preceded him in death. Since he has lived in Kingman he has been active in the business affairs of the community for 27 years was the manager of the Kingman Methodist Church and took an active part in church affairs and served as teacher of the adult class for many years. Nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends remain to mourn his departure. The sudden death of a good friend of everyone in Kingman shocked the community Sunday morning as Hiram Brown died suddenly while teaching a Sunday School class in the Methodist Church. Hiram was apparently in good health but suddenly collapsed. Because of a sudden death unattended by a physician, it was necessary for the coroner to make investigation and ascribe to the cause of death. The coroner found from the death was from natural complications and on inquire, investigation and survey it was found that Hiram came to his death from acute coronary occlusion with a predisposing cause.
